We have been doing some work around the house that involves moving furniture.We recently got a new couch so the old one needed to be removed from the living room. Where are the two strapping boys that I birthed when we need them? I am not sure why Rich thinks it is perfectly natural for his wife to pick up a couch and carry it down steps and out of the house. He just says, "Can you be Helga again?" I take a little offense to this because I am pretty sure if I was cute and petite he wouldn't ask. He says that I am "very German" and can do anything. I also don't think it's a bad thing to be German so I can't say no. It goes against everything my heritage is about.

This weekend we ripped up carpet and padding downstairs. We removed it and pulled up the tacking strips. What did we do with the furniture you ask? Yes, Helga moved an entire family room of furniture to the garage and then placed all of Lauren's furniture in the family room because that is the first room we are going to tackle. It's a little embarrassing that I can actually move furniture. I mean big furniture. The downstairs is in a state of chaos which isn't my favorite state to be in. Of course, as all projects do, it is snowballing. Now I need to paint the trim and doors before we lay the new floor, and I have had moments of weakness thinking maybe I should repaint all the walls too. I am resisting that urge.

It will be worth it when it is complete. I have about 10 other home  projects waiting after this and I am sure Helga will make another appearance.
