Rich's parents are joining us for Thanksgiving this year. I am out to impress the in-laws. I am very happy to be making dinner and baking. We have had a few rough years with this holiday. My parents are usually visiting my brother in Texas, Rich's parents haven't been in the area during the holidays and Chad hasn't been home because of his schedule. I have even resorted to buying a pre-made meal one year at a local grocery store. Not a good idea, people. I may never live it down and my family is still scarred by the whole experience. Holidays mean family and when we aren't all together it feels less enjoyable to bake and cook.
Anyway, I am setting out to make a very ambitious pie recipe. Better Homes and Garden magazine had a feature this month with hints and tips for making perfect pies. Caramel Apple-Cherry Pie, you heard me. I am making my own crust and all. Fast-forward to this:
Can you hear the angels singing? |
On this Thanksgiving I am most thankful that I don't have anything in my life NOT to be thankful for. (I realize that is alot of double negatives). My favorite verse is Psalm 27:5, "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock." The security that verse gives me is priceless. I hope you and your family enjoy this Thanksgiving day and are blessed during this holiday season.
One more thing just to make you smile:
I think Gun'r is pretty thankful this year. |
